Having a pressure washer on hand whenever you need it just makes life easier. But most pressure washers are large and cumbersome, gas-powered (or corded) pieces of equipment that need to be lugged around from one location to the next – or moved about as you continue the deep cleaning job you started. That’s the most frequently cited disadvantage of traditional pressure washers. Enter the Dewalt Pressure Washer. This thing is cordless and easily portable – so it’s far easier to use.

The Handiest Pressure Washer You’ve Ever Used
You’ll find yourself turning to your Dewalt cordless pressure washer much more frequently than hauling out the other machine if you have one. It’s just so much more practical – and usable – having a cordless device that runs off a standard Dewalt lithium battery.
Naturally, once it arrived I was eager to put the Dewalt pressure washer to the test. Since acquiring this useful tool, I have used the pressure washer for many outdoor cleaning tasks, from my driveway and garage siding to the patio furniture and multiple cars.
It also works well on odd jobs – like helping to keep the moss off of the backyard patio and walkway and cleaning out the chicken feeders at the farm.
You simply can’t compare apples to oranges. So it doesn’t make sense to pit this one against one of those 2000 – 3000 PSI gas-powered monsters. But the Dewalt cordless does have plenty of power and dependability, making it ideal for a variety of household, garage, or farm purposes. I wanted to see if it could handle tough jobs like removing built-up dirt and grime and it did the job handily. Just don’t expect it to pressure-wash your driveway, wooden deck, or large concrete slab. Those jobs require a larger machine.

Compact and Convenient
The biggest difference between the Dewalt pressure washer and typical washers is that the Dewalt is exceptionally convenient, due to its small size and reasonably lightweight. If you can handle a small sack of potatoes – you can maneuver this thing with relative ease.
Its light weight makes it effortless to transport and handle – even in limited areas. When used for a longer period of time, you will notice the weight of the tool. But that’s after extended continuous use. For example, I worked it continuously for 30 minutes to clean loads of caked-on mud off my UTV (as well as my boots) and it still had two bars of battery power left.
Possible Uses For The Dewalt Cordless Pressure Washer
You could make good use of this portable power washer in a number of ways to clean whatever you happen to have on your property. This includes vehicles of all kinds like Cars, Pick-up Trucks, SUVs, ATV,s and UTVs, as well as Bicycles. It can also be useful on Boats and other Watercraft.
Many use it around the home to clean Window Screens, Siding, and Patio Furniture made from various materials including wicker. Others have successfully used it on Farming and Gardening Equipment. As a general duty power washer, the Dewalt cordless pressure washer performs capably.
Is The Dewalt Cordless Pressure Washer Right For You?
The only way to know for certain is to test this out for yourself! It’s equipped with 550 PSI and 1.0 gallon per Minute of washing power, making it capable of a variety of tasks around the home. While not as strong as higher-rated pressure washing machines.
The Dewalt does deliver ten times the power of a standard garden hose and this makes it perfect for cleaning your vehicles, outdoor furniture, siding, and windows. Since it’s cordless and quickly ready to go any time you need it, this one is very handy.
What’s really cool about this tool is that it can be connected to just about any freshwater source. That means you don’t have to have it hooked up to a garden hose. You can use water from a lake – or simply fill up a standard five-gallon pail and away you go.
This Dewalt pressure washer kit includes the battery and charger, plus a quick-connect adapter that is compatible with any garden hose. You get all of the necessary pieces to successfully operate it.
Dewalt’s cordless power cleaner is completely portable and versatile. It’s able to fulfill cleaning needs at home, around your property, and even on the job in some cases. It’s important to recognize that a powerful cleaner like this is different from a pressure washer. Most notably – it’s not as powerful. But it’s way more mobile – making it an invaluable part of any home.
What’s In The Box?
- Dewalt DCPW550P1 Cordless Pressure Washer
- Soap bottle
- Storage bag
- Dewalt 5.0Ah Battery
- 15°, 25°, 40° + turbo nozzles
- 20-foot siphon hose
How Does The Dewalt 20V Max Cordless Power Cleaner Perform?
The Dewalt DCPW550 is capable of generating 550 PSI with the 15° nozzle and 1.0 GPM (Gallons per Minute). And if you lower the air pressure, you can get up to 2.2 GPM flowing – a figure that surpasses what most other power cleaners offer. If you are new to this type of tool, this detail may not make a lot of sense to you. But rest assured – it’s a good thing.
Efficient cleaning is achieved through a combination of pressure and water flow – much the same as it is with any pressure washer. Pressure loosens most of the dirt and debris while the water flow helps wash it away. The Dewalt pressure washer has higher levels of both pressure and water flow than any other cordless competitor, making it the optimal choice for portable power cleaning.
This tool is not designed for pressure washing driveways; it is more suitable for cleaning surfaces that require more pressure than a normal hose nozzle can provide. That’s why it’s an awesome tool for washing vehicles, window screens, and siding.
At 40.5 inches, this Dewalt model is only marginally bigger than a pressure washer wand. While it weighs 7.4 pounds with a standard 5.0Ah battery (making it a little heavy for this class of tool), two-handed operation eases any burden the small amount of extra weight might add. In our opinion, the improved performance Dewalt offers over others is of greater benefit than shaving off some weight.

What Sets the Dewalt Pressure Washer Apart
Dewalt’s power washer is rare in that it offers 2 speeds. We almost always opt for the higher setting, as it delivers better results. But if you want to conserve battery life, then the lower speed will work best. Remember – you can use standard Dewalt batteries you have for other tools. They are completely interchangeable and some larger Dewalt batteries can work too. At least one buyer claims to have used the Flex 60V battery without any problem. And a larger batter will always last longer.
If you like the Dewalt brand as we do, you may already have several batteries you could use. In that case, running your power washer at a higher speed won’t be a problem for you.
One major advantage that power cleaners possess is the fact that they don’t require a pressurized water source to function, unlike most pressure washers. This makes it far more versatile than most of the choices on the market today.
Dewalt supplies a 20-foot-long siphoning hose. This is valuable with both the tool itself as well as the complete kit. Customers can utilize any fresh water source such as a bucket, drum, rain barrel – or even a lake – for this purpose. If it’s more convenient in your case, you can still opt for using a standard hose around the home. There’s an adapter included in the package for this specific purpose.
Perfect For Light and Medium Duty Work
This tool is more for light and medium-duty power cleaning. For example, if you’re trying to pressure wash a deck that hasn’t been done in years, this probably isn’t the right tool for the job. For the toughest jobs, a gas-powered pressure washer with a 2500 PSI rating or above would be a better choice.
Rather than the rotary nozzles normally seen on most power cleaners, Dewalt has gone in a different direction by opting to use standard pressure washer nozzles. It’s a smart move and one that we fully support. It makes a lot of sense, especially since 3 spares can be stored on the tool itself. The wand is equipped with a 15°, 25°, 40°, and turbo nozzle. So if you require a quick change – everything you need is readily at your disposal.
A battery cover is provided to guard the battery against splashing water when running tools. However, there isn’t a gasket surrounding it, just a splash guard. While that may be less-than-ideal, it works perfectly well and you just need to exercise caution with any water around.
This pressure washer is convenient and portable. It does not need to be plugged into an electrical outlet, or connected to a water hydrant or garden hose. This thing can just as easily draw water from a bucket or other sources of water. Additionally, its low-pressure setting makes it ideal for families with small children, since kids could probably do significant damage with more powerful equipment than they could do with this cordless unit.
Some folks opt for the best of both worlds; they have a large, gas-powered pressure washer and make good use of the Dewalt cordless pressure washer too. It’s similar to having both a hand vacuum and a whole house system, where each of the two products serves different purposes
Although it may not be as powerful as a pressure washer with its 550 PSI, most users with common sense would acknowledge that this lack of pressure is compensated by the ease of use. Pressure washers are typically at least 1500 PSI.
Pros vs. Cons

The Verdict
The Dewalt Pressure Washer is a different kind of pressure washer. This means it’s good for many things – from routine exterior property maintenance to regular cleaning of cars, trucks, boats, and other equipment like lawnmowers, bikes, barbecues, and patio furniture. When compared to competing brands of cordless washers, the Dewalt DCPW550P1 cordless model stands above the crowd.
